Apple wood is also used as an accent timber for doors, ornate handles, and small artisan projects such as dishware and jewelry. Apple wood has long been used for its fragrant qualities in smoking meats. The wood is used as fuel for the smoking pit; it is believed that the meat being cooked takes on the flavors from the wood's smoke. Apple wood-smoked bacon is a popular product, often marketed as a higher-end meat in restaurant/fast-food commercials.
