Senna Leaf comes from the plant known by the Latin botanical name of Senna alexandrina. It is also commonly known as wild Senna, locust plant, and American Senna. Starwest directly sources our Senna alexandrina from our suppliers in Egypt, and we process the Senna Leaf in-house at our facility, allowing us to supervise the process in its entirety to bring you the highest-quality dried herbs on the market today.

Senna encourages bowel movements by inhibiting the smooth muscle that retains stool and stimulating the smooth muscle that pushes stool through the intestine. The herb doesn't work unless the sennosides in the herb are transformed into rheinanthrones by beneficial bacteria in the colon. The leaf of Senna is fairly potent and has a more pronounced effect. Potent, recommended milder use is the pods.

NOTE: Do not use the product if you have abdominal pain or diarrhea. Consult a healthcare provider before use if you are pregnant or nursing. Discontinue use in the event of diarrhea or watery stools. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Not for long-term use.
