Mugwort is one of the oldest and most storied herbs in the Western tradition — a bitter digestive ally, a gentle nervine, and above all, the herb of dreamers. This glycerite brings mugwort's full traditional range into an easy, alcohol-free daily extract.

Key Medicinal Benefits

  1. Digestive Support — Mugwort is a classic bitter herb, traditionally used to ease bloating, gas, and sluggish digestion, and to stimulate the appetite before meals.

  2. Dream Support — Perhaps mugwort's most celebrated traditional use — taken before sleep to encourage vivid, memorable dreaming.

  3. Calm and Nervous System Support — Traditionally used as a gentle relaxant, easing occasional nervous tension and supporting a settled state of mind.

  4. Supporting a Delayed Cycle — Mugwort has a long history of traditional use in helping bring on a delayed menstrual cycle. Because this traditional action works through the same mechanism that makes mugwort unsafe in early pregnancy, please see the safety note below before use.

  5. Antioxidant Support — Rich in naturally occurring flavonoids, mugwort offers gentle, everyday antioxidant support.

How to Use Medicinally

Take 1–2 mL, up to three times daily. Take it directly or dilute it in a small amount of water or juice.

Safety Note

Pregnancy Warning: This product has traditionally been used to help bring on a delayed menstrual cycle. Because this can be dangerous during early pregnancy, we recommend taking a pregnancy test before ingesting this product. Mugwort is not a reliable or safe way to affect a pregnancy — the dose that might have an effect is close to a dose that can cause real harm, including seizures, liver or kidney injury, and an incomplete process that can become a medical emergency requiring immediate care. If your period has been absent for a while and you are not pregnant, please see your doctor, as it may point to an underlying condition that needs direct medical treatment. Do not use while breastfeeding.

Additional Cautions: Avoid use if you have a seizure disorder or history of epilepsy, as mugwort naturally contains thujone, which may affect the nervous system in sensitive individuals. This product is not intended for continuous daily use beyond two weeks at a time — take a break before resuming. Mugwort is part of the Asteraceae (daisy) family; those with allergies to ragweed, chrysanthemums, daisies, or related plants should use caution, as cross-reactivity is possible. Do not exceed the recommended dosage.

Key Magickal Benefits

Few herbs carry as rich a magickal history as mugwort — named for Artemis, goddess of the Moon and the wild, and long known as the herb of dreamers, protection, and the threshold between worlds.

  1. Dreamwork and Psychic Vision — Mugwort's single most celebrated magickal use. Traditionally placed beneath the pillow or taken before sleep to encourage vivid dreams, and burned or carried to support divination, scrying, and psychic work.

  2. Protection for Travelers — Long carried by travelers and soldiers to ward off exhaustion, illness, and misfortune on the road. In medieval Europe, people wore crowns woven from mugwort on St. John's Eve for protection.

  3. Cleansing and Clearing — Burned for smoke cleansing or incense to clear stale or heavy energy from a space, offering a deeper, more grounding smoke than lighter cleansing herbs.

  4. Feminine Mysteries — Known in folk tradition as "cronewort," mugwort has long been associated with the passages of a woman's life and the wisdom of the crone archetype.

  5. Planetary Correspondences — Mugwort holds two well-earned rulerships from different traditions. Culpeper, Agrippa, and Paracelsus all placed mugwort under Venus, tied to its relaxant nature and its deep affinity for the female reproductive system. Its more modern association with the Moon comes from a separate, equally grounded thread—its name honors Artemis, goddess of the Moon, and its long-documented effect on dreaming.
