Rhassoul Clay is an excellent moisturizing and cleansing facial clay. It is considered one of the rarer and purest clays on Earth. It has been used for health and beauty for centuries and continues to grow in popularity. From home spas to world-class retreats, the beneficial effects of Moroccan red clay are well known. It is appropriate to use as an addition to your homemade beauty products, and you will find red clay in many commercial beauty products, such as soaps, scrubs, masks, and shampoos. Its tendency to readily cleanse, exfoliate, absorb impurities, and detoxify the skin, combined with its ability to improve dryness and scaliness and clarify skin texture and firmness, makes it very desirable.
Alternatives to water in the clay masque-paste are almost endless: Lemon juice, essential oil waters (just a drop or two), herb tisanes (peppermint, chamomile, comfrey, calendula, ginger, lavender, etc.) Powdered herbs can be added to the clay before mixing (e.g., marshmallow, calendula, slippery elm bark). This iron-rich red clay is mined from the Atlas Mountains in Eastern Morocco. It is processed to remove graininess and impurities, then sun-dried and powdered to perfection.
